Unmatched Storytelling
The Bitter Southerner Podcast portrays Southern American culture as what it truly is, not what stereotypes tell us it is, or what movie tropes tell us it is, or what country music tells us it is. These folks travel through the ins and outs of what it means to be southern: from food, religion, and music, to politics, race, and tradition. They also provide a fresh take on how we, as southerners, can retain our storied culture, food, music, and traditions, as we help our brothers and sisters move away from racism, homophobia, etc. Thank you for making this podcast, and thank you for giving the south a new voice.

Redeemed? Other than communists and carpetbaggers infiltrating the South, it’s just great. The North needs to be redeemed. History does not revolve around blacks.

I am a transplant from the far north to the Deep South (folks here refer to North Carolina as the north). This is a deeply insightful podcast that unpacks the remarkable diversity of southern culture. It has an ethnographic sensibility coupled with a poetic humanism.
