“I attended Young Harris College which is located in the north Georgia mountains. During my 4 years at YHC I studied Communication. I studied southern accents and the perceptions/impressions that surround accent and word choice for my senior capstone and became borderline obsessed with the topic. Oh how I wish I had found this podcast during my time conducting research! This podcast sheds light onto a topic that is long overdue for discussion. The podcast mentions topics such as code switching and perception of intelligence which were both key factors within my study. If you have any interest in southern accents and perception of intelligence, give this podcast a listen! With so many restrictions present today surrounding perception and it’s correlation to growth, this topic has never been more prevalent!”
