One of the best audio dramas I’ve found.
The show is a fictional pastiche of Serial and follows a Sarah Koenig-esque radio journalist who is recording a podcast documentary series investigating a series of paranormal/urban myth cases. It is very well made – my wife overheard it and asked if it was the new Serial series. It has interviews, recorded telephone calls, musical cues and even conversations between the presenter and the producers. It all feels and sounds like a real documentary podcast. I suppose it an audio version of the found footage movie genre, but ongoing – so within the world of the podcast, the show is being broadcast on a weekly basis rather than it being “found”. If you like supernatural stories then I cannot recommend this podcast enough. It is very addictive – I’ve listened to three of the four currently available episodes last night and I’m looking forward to continuing it this evening.

More reviews of The Black Tapes
This is easily the best new podcast I've heard in months. This is what Serial would be if it were set in Night Vale.Read full review »

Serial + X-Files! I was so immersed in the show that I skipped listening to The Unsound

Don't get me wrong, I'm interested in the angle they're playing with Richard, but it would be nice to see a little more...Read full review »
