Description
Howzit friends! I’m back from a little mid-season break and this week on the podcast we take another deep dive with the dynamic Dylan Johnson. If you haven’t listened to episode 10, I’d highly encourage you to do so, as you’ll quickly see why Dylan has a massive following and has become a listener favorite here on the show.   In today’s episode we’ll talk to Dylan about how he overcame tremendous adversity at Unbound (the biggest gravel race in the world), to bounce forward strong enough to secure a 17th place overall finish in a stacked field of riders. For a show telling stories of endurance and perseverance, Dylan's ride at Unbound is a daring example of the Ernest Shackelton quote, "Through endurance we conquer." This episode is a shorter one, but we cover a lot of ground. Dylan and I talk Unbound, BWR North Carolina, Bighorn Gravel, and we’ll have a preview of this Saturday’s big race—the next stop in the Life Time Grand Prix series, which is sure to be a spicy one—with a strong field of heavy hitters showing up in Beaver, Utah, for the 2023 Crusher in the Tushar. We’ll also talk mid-season breaks and we’ll geek out just a bit on equipment, talking about my gravel racing setup on a drop bar mountain bike and why running wider tires on drop bars—despite popular belief—can make you faster. If you don’t follow Dylan’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/DylanJohnsonCycling) or podcasts, Bonk Bros (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/bonk-bros/id1629909849) and The Match Box (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-matchbox-a-cycling-podcast/id1629904935), I’d highly encourage you to do so as Dylan simply knows how to produce content that’s entertaining and is sure to make you think. I hope you enjoy the ride with Dylan Johnson. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thebounceforward/ Website: https://beaudacious.com/podcast/
