“O’Neill seizes on populist narratives to twist to his own uses just as the Trotskyist Left used to in the days of the UK’s Revolutionary Communist Party. No, wait, what’s this? He actually started his career at ‘Living Marxism’, the RCP house publication? Hmm, he’s travelled a long way since then but clearly not let go of his propagandist roots. I don’t have the expertise to comment on many of the positions he takes, but I can on his climate denialism. Ill-informed, lacking an understanding of the (quite simple) science, he peddles the libertarian line that climate change is no big deal.
Back in the day, the RCP were renowned as the clown car of left wing politics. It seems O’Neil and ‘Spiked’ have swerved across the political divide to find a new home. Funny how hard cash from petro-chemical billionaire Charles Koch and assorted right-wing think tanks can do that for you.”
