“This was an interesting programme. However nobody seems willing to discuss the prime issue. This is that whatever money we give the NHS it will always want more. We should be looking at every way possible to control the costs of the NHS. Some examples are:
Do we collect all the money owed by foreign users?
Every managerial post should be examined for its contribution to patient care and removed if found wanting
Anyone presenting at A&E drunk or having used recreational drugs should be heavily billed or sent away
We should stop the obsession of clinicians to keep elderly people alive at all costs regardless of their wishes
The wage bill is funded by the tax payer and nobody in the NHS should be paid more than the Prime Minister
Please do a Briefing Room programme on this unexplored area of the NHS.”
