“Simply put, its great. The podcast is basically a series of conversations on issues that are especially important to women, but should be important to us all. Given that its an American podcast its pretty much all from an American perspective, but as a 22 year old South African guy, i still find it very relevant to the current situation in my country. In South Africa I always considered myself very liberal, but calling yourself liberal in this country isn’t really saying much since the culture is still very much conservative. After listening to this podcast for a few months I realised how much farther I still need to go when it comes to my views. Certain things we take for granted or simply never think about as men affect woman in deeply profound ways. At times when I first started listening, I would roll my eyes because I would be hearing about the problems of American white woman (probably the 2nd most privileged people on the planet behind American white men) when in South Africa the cultural practice of “ukuthwala” (which is basically the kidnapping and raping of young woman, which was only made illegal in 2015) still happens today. However when I actually stopped assuming and actually started listening. Truly listening and thinking about what I heard for the rest of the day, I realised that its all the same problem. The gender pay gap in the US, Ukuthwala in South Africa, arranged marriages in middle eastern countries, it all stems from the same problem: patriarchy, and men’s failure/refusal to simply listen to what women had to say.Natasha (the host) and her guests are great. never boring, always funny, and if you’re willing to give them an hour of your time you’re guaranteed to learn something. thank you Natasha, keep it up. unfortunately we don’t have patreon in this country, so I can’t donate, but as long as you keep making these episodes, I’ll keep listening, and hopefully i’ll keep becoming a better feminist. late :)”
