“Excellent warning about traveling to Brazil. We arrived at the airport in Sao Paulo and without a visa was refused entrance. We had to fly to Paraguay where the Brazilian consulate in Asuncion issued us a visa to Brazil (but not without getting some serious attitude and lip). Then we flew back to Sao Paulo armed with our visas. The extra time and expense was tremendous, and we were lucky that the consulate would give us the visa on short notice. We learned later that American Airlines who failed to note in Salt Lake City, and in Miami, that we did not possess visas for Brazil was fined to the tune of $600 per passenger.”
