“Love the podcast!!! My medical question: When most people think of someone with ADHD, they usually picture a younger boy with a lot of energy that can’t sit still. As a female with ADHD, I’ve learned that girls typically don’t have the same symptoms of males. Being a teenage girl who’s an honor student with a GPA above 4.0, it took me until I was 15 to be diagnosed with ADHD. I was previously diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder which actually ended up getting better after I started vyvanse. I know many other people who had similar experiences in their diagnoses. So, I was wondering, why does is seem more difficult for females to be diagnosed with ADHD? Is it because girls are more likely to have anxiety disorders? Is there not a lot of research on ADHD in females? Are girls better at hiding their symptoms?”
