Please invest in better audio equipment.
The New York Times can’t afford to provide their reporters with decent audio equipment to conduct interviews? The story is fine but it’s hard to stay engaged when the interviewers microphone is constantly chopping in and out. Plug a mic into the laptop next time.

I’m not a current resident of Laramie or even Wyoming. I did attend the University of Wyoming in the early 2000s and spent 5 years in the town.
