“I’m not a current resident of Laramie or even Wyoming. I did attend the University of Wyoming in the early 2000s and spent 5 years in the town. The initial portrayal of the community using isolated/outlier narratives is very disappointing for a podcast of this caliber. Even the wrap up of the trailer using the phrase “so Laramie” embraces a narrow minded perspective. I had hoped we were better than this when showcasing a community. Yes there are isolated incidents but these stories don’t necessarily represent a community then or now. C’mon Serial, you can do better! I’m not sure I’ll even listen to the production when it’s released later this month.”
