Whiskey Tango Foxtrot !!?
This was a two-day podcast binge for me, and I picked it because it’s written and hosted by Kim Barker, a legit journalist with some impeccable credentials. That being said, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?! After 8 episodes, we still don’t really know squat — except that Kim has a deep-rooted (only-semi-resolved) grudge against Laramie, a cranky grandma narration voice, and an unusual presentation style. (Maybe that’s why she’s been an award-winning WRITER and not a podcaster. A smart journalist doesn’t necessarily make an effective podcaster.) Still, I was mostly engaged in this series — right up until final episode 8. At that point, I honestly felt Barker let a truly odd suspect TOTALLY off the hook by going much too easy and failing to challenge him on ALL the key issues of his truthfulness. Even if he’s not guilty of this crime, he STILL needed to be made to FULLY walk the coals for his past behaviors, statements, misrepresentations, and actions — all of which were BIZARRE. The fact that Barker chose not to confront him more, but instead let him and his wife indignantly squirm away relatively unscathed, made for a really disappointing ending.

More questions than answers doesn’t bother me in the least. It’s real. If you want an answer to a...Read full review »

This is not engaging and has pockets where it rambles. I like the idea and concept, just have seen it executed much better. Podcasts that are filled with audio of interviews have to be edited for quality, etc. I’m just not impressed.

This is a different but refreshing change of true crime podcasting. Rather than telling you the evidence and pointing you to a murderer, the team here does a phenomenal job of slowly pulling the curtain back and showing you how what seemed like obvious evidence and clear memories led to a result...Read full review »
