These interviews are crucial to art and aesthetics and in interrogating why writers seek the words they do. Roxane Gay’s interview was a lighthouse for me. Gay experiments with form and image in a way which crystallises the freedom that writers need to embrace in order to stretch themselves, to create work that pushes the boundaries of social expectations.
