“I like the host, and she sounds genuinely curious and empathetic; but she too often compares her experience without religion present, saying that she can’t imagine and such. It sort of comes off as superior, even though I don’t she is meaning it that way. Also, the armed forces episode was difficult to listen to. Most people know marine training in particular is incredibly tough, and it no surprise it includes breaking the person in. However, it’s for the military, which is necessary as long as wars exist. And you need a person to be able to follow orders that most “normal” people wouldn’t be able to. And have a strong sense of “us” to prevent from betrayal and being able to defend each other to the death. These are people that can earn Purple Hearts. Whatever a person’s stand on war is, this is the only system that can work, a high demand system for a terribly high demand occupation. I’m not sure what the host thinks can be any other option in this case. It was ridiculous.”
