But I didn’t get the impression that you actually understood just how damaging your comments were, or that this is precisely how antisemitism starts. If you did not know Jewish history before, I would encourage you to learn about our painful and complicated past. I, too, come from a family that arose from poverty and genocide. I am happy that you apologized, but the pain doesn’t go away.”
