James’ Sub
Can someone from the Washington Post please explain why this podcast is entirely different when James is off? Without James, the podcast is a complete waste of time. It’s just a reading of headlines which everyone already has heard or read in the Post with no analysis. Can James really be the ONLY person at the Washington Post capable of doing the pod the normal way? The person who subs seems smart - can’t she also do analysis like James? I find it very strange when James is out that the entire format of the podcast is dumped in favor of a simple reading of headlines that takes 3 minutes. I gave the podcast a 5 star review because the vast majority of the time, it’s really great. I understand James needs days off - but when Lester Holt is off, they don’t change the entire format of the NBC Nightly News! Someone else steps in and does it the same way as Lester and it’s still informative. When James is out, I turn it off immediately because it’s a waste of time. I think the Post needs to take a hard look at this because there’s much room for improvement on this front. Again, keep up the good work and empower James’ sub to contribute more!!

I listen to James’s insightful, interesting, and succinct podcast religiously every morning. The format is perfect for an early run. My favorite podcast for that time of day.

I enjoy this podcast! I am mystified by the name of the sponsor. I hear “Weird Ecuador” but this cannot be right. So who’s the sponsor?
