Not for me anymore
I used to love the show when it first came to Absolute and was thoroughly excited that Dave got his own show after filling in for (the still brilliant) Frank Skinner and I enjoy listening to the amusing Danielle and Martin. Unfortunately the show hasn't evolved at all since it began, and two years of the same stuff has become very stale indeed. Some of the features are old and tired - "Pun Street" is a fun segment but things have begun to dry up and I think it needs to be retired. "Listeners Lexicon" is plain dull and not really engaging for the listener. Additionally some of the banter is banal (I know they may have exhausted topics over 2 years but Frank's show manages to stay fresh for the most part - possibly don't revolve each show on a certain restrictive theme?) and listener contributions during the live show lean on the tedious side. I still enjoy "Ward's Weekly Word" and think the show overall is lacking a bit of this segments satirical edge. Furthermore "Correspodcast" is usually enjoyable (but of course depends on any given week's e-mail's to the show) and Martin's Song is a joy if only for the kerfuffle he gets in before it. Adding a midweek podcast has led to things being stretched out even further and I personally don't think it's necessary especially since there are podcast extras on a Sunday as well. If any of the features I mentioned have gone recently then I apologise, but I currently have a backlog of episodes going back to January 2012 which i'm considering deleting. (Also the podcast has become infuriating to listen to by THAT advert at the start for Dave's stand-up show which has been tagged on for almost half a year now! Are tickets really going that fast?) Dave is a fantastic broadcaster and I enjoy his 'sidekicks', but like anything else, the show needs to be mixed up and refreshed once in a while. I'm so sad i'm writing a bad review, but hope that if someone at the station reads this they may agree and take on board some of my comments. Thanks.

More reviews of The Dave Gorman Podcast
Pun Street, Wards Weekly Word, found poetry, toy accordions. Existential Self Doubt and three winning personalities. Along side the Frank Skinner podcast and the Iain Lee show, the Dave Gorman podcast is among the best output of a rapidly improving radio station. Top marks to everyone!!!!

I can understand what Dave G is doing on this, but what about the other two? They're clearly not comedians, why are they getting airtime? The guy is severely less funny than the average bloke at the bar in your local pub and the girl just seems like a posh non-entity.Gorman does his best, but...Read full review »
