Description
Paul Shaffer spends an hour in the studio, discussing his mini-residency in Las Vegas and some of the guests who have joined him. He looks back at the beginning of his careee in “Godspell” in Toronto in 1972, where he worked with Martin Short, Gilda Radner and Andrea Martin, being a part of the first five seasons of SNL including helping develop The Blues Brothers and Nick the Lounge Singer. He describes his first meetig with David Letterman and what it was like to work with him for 33 years.
He also talks about getting to know Richard Belzer when he first moved to New York, and the first time he ran into Dennis at Catch A Rising Star in the 80s.
Paul also discusses performing at Live Aid, his upcoming SiriusXM series, how cool Sinatra and Bing Crosby we’re and when he became a big James Brown fan.
Finally, Paul responds to the rumor that he was Jerry Seinfeld’s first choice to play George Constanta.
Martin Short joins Dennis via phone to talk about Christmas, continuing his tour with Steve Martin and doing Paul Shaffer's show in Vegas. They also talk some of Martin's upcoming projects, his time on SNL and the dry wit of Christopher Guest.
