Weak understanding of context
This production editorially deserved a more thorough review of how events surrounding the story of these individuals were explained. Weak, unsophisticated analysis. The way the narration describes different events is confused and in some places inaccurate —Russia’s wars in the 90s, beginning of war in Donbas, Maidan in Ukraine in 2014 (Russia thwarting Ukraine’s attempt to join the EU —um, what? Ukraine was not about to join the EU in 2014 and events in 2014 and since have accelerated potential EU ascension). For someone to spend a year and a half researching this story and not put effort into understanding the overall context besides accepting a lazy recitation of Russia’s version of events is disappointing but sadly not that surprising.
