Episode Notes
Bal Keshav Thackeray or Balasaheb Thackeray or simply, Bal Thackeray was and remains perhaps one of the most unique leaders that the Indian political landscape has produced. His political brand hinged on a mix of strong and native Maharashtrian culture and was deeply rooted in the timeless Hindu ethos of strong family values, traditional culture, respect for women, and unswerving patriotism.
Bal Thackeray never swayed from his commitment to Hindu causes. He was perhaps the only mainstream leader who developed original techniques to combat and repel violent Islamism on the streets of Mumbai. His finest hour was when he rescued thousands of Hindus from the rampaging mobs of Jihads in the aftermath of the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts.
This short video is a collage of the most famous lines of Bal Thackeray on a variety of topics including the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, deportation of illegal Pakistani and Bangladeshi immigrants and thoughts on nationalism.
