“Andrew won’t shut up and appears to invite guests so he can show off his own intelligence. The Lionel Shriver interview was appalling because she barely had a chance to speak and the questions were reflective of someone who had not bothered to read her work or prepare. I wanted to hear her searing insights. Separately, for someone who claims to be so well-read, the rapture in christianity’s presumed originality that Andrew so often expresses never accounts for the fact that all the ideas of Christianity were expressed first by Jewish patriarchs. For a US transplant, Andrew is a firm product of narrow Christian European thinking and it shows in his attitudes and (lack of) understanding of Israel too. Love him, either way. But, come on.”
