Dishcast. Doom Episode with Niall Ferguson
Bloody loved it! Seriously, I’ve listened to lots of podcasts over the last year or so, and that one was the best by a distance. It covered a huge amount more than “just” the fascinating stuff on disasters and catastrophes, and as a Brit I particularly enjoyed the thoughts on Boris Johnson and the Conservative renaissance over here. Plenty of really interesting stuff for a US audience too on the parallels with the 19th century and some sharp thoughts on Trump and the Republican Party. Best of all, while these two (Sullivan and Ferguson) are obviously great mates with a friendship going back 40 years it wasn’t cloying or cheesy and there was even a bit of needle at one stage.
