The Economist Asks (then talks over the answers...)
I agree with the reviews pleading for fewer interruptions. Ms McElvoy, you are a great journalist and I would welcome a part of the podcast dedicated to hearing more of your views as well as your interesting memories and anecdotes of major political and economic events but it has been misleading to receive advertisements implying listeners would be hearing answers to your questions from your guests. Please let your guests finish their thoughts and then later use your skills and expertise to probe and challenge. The frustrating thing (for a mere listener and fan like me) is that your opinions are really very interesting but because they are introduced as an interruption - and in particular as an interruption to a usually fascinating comment from your guest - the inclination is to dismiss your comment immediately as a rude interruption and nothing more, which is to dis-credit the content of the interruptions. We want to hear from you but please not at the expense of your guests.

Such a missed opportunity given the interesting folk you have signed up to participate. Gossipy, patronising interview style - doesn’t address the most important issues. Consider new host

I love it because it is not our grandparents’ perspective on economics which is only appropriate since we’re not going back to that era. Fostering evolving thought can be tough, thanks for contributing.

Puissant travail réalisé par the economist pour suivre les idées de notre monde
