Solid podcast but ideological clarity is needed
National Review fancies itself as a big tent for various conservative ideas. The magazine took a noble stand with their “Against Trump” issue in February 2016. However, as conservativism increasingly becomes harder to contemporarily define and disentangle from Trumpism, I’d like to see the magazine and principally it’s editors take a clearer stance on precisely what it is that they’re selling. There is a ton of daylight between the likes of Victor Davis Hanson and Jonah Goldberg (who is an editor too...yes?). This may be a misplaced assessment, but it seems like Rich Lowry et al. are quite content to sit idly by as Buckley’s 50 year project disintegrates before their eyes. The right has disgraced itself of late and it is nevertheless refreshing to encounter center-right discourse that doesn’t begin and end with a personal loyalty oath to Donald Trump. Oh, and Charlie...for God’s sake please stop publishing Conrad Black on NRO! Are you freaking kidding me! I’m quite positive that he’s authored each of the five worst articles in the history of NRO. Cheers!

More reviews of The Editors
These editors are not in lockstep, and often enough are heading in, or coming from, very different directions, the which makes their weekly discussions well worth the hour.

The commentators who appear on this pod regularly are like manna from heaven in the Trump era where many conservatives follow the man instead of principled ideas.
