Joining me on this week's episode of the show is one of Britain’s most acclaimed chefs, Michael Caines MBE.
Michael held two Michelin stars for 18 consecutive years before he took the leap of faith to open his own country house hotel at Lympstone Manor in Exmouth in 2017. His restaurant there was awarded a Michelin star within just six months of opening but Michael’s vision for Lympstone was to offer far much more than a luxury hotel and fine dining experience – he also planted a vineyard.
The first still wine from Lympstone Manor Vineyard has just been launched – a fabulous Pinot Noir – and an English sparkling is currently ageing in bottle ready for release in a year or so.
We talk about how wine has helped shape Michael's culinary career, what it's been like to realise his dream of not only owning a vineyard but one so near his home town in Devon and his dreams for the future of Lympstone Manor.
