On this week's episode of The English Wine Diaries is award-winning wine writer Susy Atkins.
Susy began her career in the early nineties at WINE magazine before heading to Australia to get her hands dirty working as a cellar hand at wineries in the Barossa Valley.
When she returned the UK, she began to edit Which? Wine Monthly, eventually becoming the co-editor of the Which? Wine Guide. She now writes a regular weekly column for The Telegraph and is the drinks editor of delicious. magazine.
She has won numerous awards for her work, which also includes writing 11 or so books about wine, and she has been a regular expert and presenter on popular TV shows such as Saturday Kitchen, as well as touring the country’s food festivals alongside celebrity chefs, such as James Martin, Michael Caines (who we recently had on the show) and Raymond Blanc to name a few.
We talk about the changing face of the English wine scene, how to shop smart in the supermarket when it comes to wine and why Devon, where Susy lives, has such a thriving wine scene.
You can catch Susy's column each Thursday at Telegraph.co.uk and keep up to date with her latest events, tours and tastings at Susyatkins.co.uk or by following her @susyatkinns on Instagram and twitter.
