Description
My guest today on The English Wine Diaries is Alex Preston, head sommelier at Isaac At in Brighton – the first restaurant in the UK to have an exclusively English wine list.
Alex caught the wine bug early at vocational college and, after joining the Isaac At team in the summer of 2016, he rebuilt the then limited English-only wine list into a library of unconventional pairings that champions English Wines, Beers, Ciders and Spirits.
Since the restaurant re-opened post-lockdown, Alex has won the Sussex Champion and Sussex Wine award at the 2021 Bite Sussex Rising Stars Awards and he was also recently chosen as one of the top 25 sommeliers in the UK by Harpers Wine and Spirits Magazine.
We talk about all things Sussex food and drink, how the Isaac At team decide what makes it onto their tasting menu and the secret behind a great food and wine pairing .
Keep up to date with what's happening at Isaac At by following the team on Instagram, Facebook and twitter or by visiting isaac-at.com.
