Not as juicy as they make it seem
This podcast starts out great! It’s full of cultural info that an outsider to Japan doesn’t often engage in. However, as the season goes on, the topics get more and more spread out, using entire episodes to talk about something they say is relevant, but really just seems like filler. I was hopeful when the final episode seemed to imply a conclusion was coming. The worst part for me were the 2 hosts who, at the end of the podcast, basically said “it’s ok” to blow off your responsibilities and family and friends and basically justified the horrific actions of their subject matter. The female host literally spends half of the last episode saying that she felt bad for chasing their lead and looking into the guy who stole from them. Everything she says sounds painfully naive. In her attempt to help us, the judgmental audience, understand the perplexities and difficulties in life, she ends up oversimplifying the conclusion by saying “people deserve to disappear if they want to because they have lived it hard”…a big disappointment to say the least.

Such an interesting podcast showing a side of Japan I had no idea about and my mother is Japanese!

I’ve listened to podcasts (mostly true crime) everyday, for about 5 years, This is the most well researched and put together one I’ve ever listened to. I paid right away to get all of the episodes. I hate to say best podcast ever but, I believe it to be true.
