Fascinating Perspective
Patrick does an excellent job of outlining the traditional narrative of the fall of the Roman Empire while providing in-depth explanations of various perspectives on the how and why of the fall. He's engaging and accessible; you won't be subjected to endless footnotes and academic parentheticals (although he certainly is willing to discuss his idea in-depth via Twitter). The first few podcasts are devoted mainly to exploring the Goths' role and view of themselves and their relationship with the Roman Empire as a culture and a state. Great listening!
