Jamie’s creating something very special
Wow ... what a find these filmumentary podcasts are for film lovers, movie buffs, fans and serious film historians. Jamie has sought out some of the true unsung masters of cinema, the editors, the cinematographers, even the puppeteers, to hear their untold stories of how these craftspeople helped create some of the most iconic movies and movie moments in cinema. What shines through every interview is the pioneering talent, the passion for their craft, and the humility of these artists. My particular favourite is the interview with Tim Rose, the puppeteer and animatronic engineer who worked for Jim Henson and George Lucas on the Muppets and Star Wars films. I never appreciated what design, engineering and performing skills needed to be combined to give characters like Admiral Ackbar a heart and a soul. Jamie is creating a rare ‘living cinema history’ archive that will be treasured, studied, and hopefully inspire a new generation of filmmakers long into the 21st Century.
