Dave discusses Edgar Winter's Frankenstein, his earliest musical influence, and the first punk gig he witnessed when he saw Naked Raygun in Chicago in 1982. He also recalls recording at the famous Sound City studios in Los Angeles where Nirvana created the classic albums Nevermind and In Utero, and working with the famously demanding producer Steve Albini.
Dave also looks back on writing the songs that became the Foo Fighters' debut, and making the ambitious Sonic Highway documentary series.
