My problem is with the message you’re sending regarding your Father’s approach towards you and your sport. Credit to you that you turned the negatives into a positive but we have deep rooted problems in grassroots sport because of parent’s attitudes and behaviours towards their children and their lack of understanding in this area. I’m sure it’s not conscious and they are doing it out of love for their children but it’s a dangerous precedent to set. Parents desperately need educating on how their behaviour effects their children’s confidence and self-esteem. 99% of children will not be born blessed with undoubted ability and physical prowess.”
