56. One History: The Heritage of AEK Athens
Listen now
Description
Rory is joined by Nikos and Thanos for the next installment of our club histories sub-series - a conversation on AEK Athens. Founded by Greek migrants from Constantinople following the Greco-Turkish War, AEK Athens grew to become one of the most successful clubs in Greece. Their primary fan group, Original 21, are known for their anti-fascism and left-wing outlook, largely stemming from their heritage as a club founded by migrants who considered outsiders by both Turkish and Greek people. This episode covers their history, the heritage and identity of the AEK Athens support, along with Nikos' and Thanos' memories of supporting the club. Note: Due to connection problems, issues with sound quality were not flagged during the recording of this episode and only appeared afterward.
