Wow!
I had never heard of Dr. Peter Rollins, but I have been following Elliott Morgan and the Sourcefed crew since day one. As someone who finds philosophy and psychoanalysis very interesting but never studied it in an academic setting, this podcast checks all the boxes for me. It’s funny, informative, unintimidating, and both Elliot and Dr. Rollins approach the subject matter from the same place of humility. Rollin’s depth of knowledge on philosophy and psychoanalysis is impressive, and Morgan’s ability to bring those concepts down to Earth through humor and anecdote makes applying such complex, abstract information to my own life seem accessible. I would love that in the future there be more concrete ways for the community to interact with the podcast/podcasters, though I understand this is a relatively new venture, and that those venues may come in the future. I also understand that community interaction may not be the intended purpose of the podcast, though I may wish. Over all, “The Fundamentalist Podcast” is the perfect fix for the closeted obsessive thinker. P. S. An episode about philosophical and psychoanalytical themes in season 1 of True Detective would be so dope.

Two likable guys, interesting, deep dives, and this coupling makes Pete seem so much smarter and more articulate than usual.

The relaxed format works well, diving into a subject with a takeaway has produced some great revelatory moments. A couple of of the Episodes have too much on the lighter...Read full review »
