Keith Morrison has IT
One thing that keeps me returning to NBC News, in particular Dateline and some of their investigative specials and podcasts, aside from the longevity they have in truly bringing an intriguing, engaging, and addictive entertaining story that’s equally informative as it is specialized in this now exploding genre that it helped it pave the way for long before it was MUST SEE/HEAR TV/RADIO!! ….. it’s KEITH MORRISON!! His voice…. I’ve been hearing him since I was a child. I remember my mother having this show on weekend nights growing up and just coming to know his voice and sound over the years, long before I really took much interest in it. But now I am a True Crime junkie and there’s 2 traditional network TV specials still running today that I continue to follow closely, despite the fact the genre has evolved a lot with the rise of the ID channel, Oxygen, and A&E developing more investigative, true-crime specials in recent years. But it’s Discovery+ that’s the true home for all true-crime addicts! You’ve got Discovery+ originals rolling out and expanding the medium, it houses ID originals, many A&E shows, and what not. See No Evil and Body Cam has taken this format to new levels and was able to do so becuase of these early formats — Dateline on NBC, 48 Hours and 60 Minutes on CBS, and 20/20 and Nightline on ABC. But it’s Dateline and 20/20 that remain my network stables to this day. I finally cut the cord and no longer have cable but I have about 5-6 streaming services and have access to all the network programs via one service or another. I make sure to keep up on Peacock for new Dateline episodes, plus Peacock developed a spin-off of its own Dateline: The Last Day. They dropped a short first season of 6-8 episodes or so, but it hoping they returning for a 2nd season and double the season — AT LEAST! But regardless, there’s new Datelines every week, so… Plus you get a ton of other true-crime on their platform with Comcast/NBCUniversal owning it. That brings some Oxygen shows (Snapped,911 Crisis Center) and CNBC (American Greed is good for the non-violent true-crime usually, though murder and violence happens there too, but it’s the focus of white collar crimes and high functioning professionals scamming and stealing and doing all sorts of crazy stuff to make a buck - that’s the appeal), and then Peacock has developed some decent true-crime limited docuseries of its own, as well as mini dramas based on real stories. They just added the linear channel Reelz to its lineup as well, after Acquiring 3 Hallmark stations not to long ago. Reelz brings a HUGE season of Then Hulu to keep up with 20/20! They have endless seasons up, just as Peacock does Dateline, and Paramount+ does 48 Hours and 60 Minutes. However… there’s always Pluto TV as well for those okay with limited ads/commercials and a crap load of channels and on-demand content. It’s also owned by the same that own Paramount+ (Paramount Global/CBS/Viacom MTV) so you’ll get a lot of CBS content, MTV, TV Land…. Old and new. They’ve got a lot of previously aired 60 minute episodes and then 48 Hours as well. And daytime talk shows and game shows.. Drew Barrymore, Dr Phil, Judge Judy… And, of course….. TRUE CRIME DOCUMENTARIES AND SPECIALS!! Again.. love this content and glad to see it branching out across podcasting now too. I think this makes for better limited true crime stories and mysteries. Especially dedicating a season (4-8 episodes) around one case. And anywhere Keith Morrison is = I’ll follow!

Couldn’t get past the first episode. Typical Keith Morrison platitudes about religion. “She was a church going teen, for gods sake “. Really? Is that supposed to be somehow protective?

But “habeas corpus” is not Greek, Keith. It is Latin. —Sarah Jennings Esq
