GEISH 77 – Dame Ellen MacArthur Sails Around The World w/Laura & Gareth Fudge
Listen now
Description
We look at one of the greatest feats in the history of sailing, when back in 2005, Ellen MacArthur broke the world record for sailing around the world solo. Given the nature of the sport, we felt it wise to have guest-hosts who actually know something about sailing. Former guest, Laura Fudge returns to the show, joined in tow by her husband, Gareth, We battle a few sound gremlins, as we widen the discussion to include the topic of female representation in sport, as well as Britain's curious relationship with sailing. After the closing theme tune, we have a brief conversation about sports sponsorship and how the episode would have turned out, were it not for the Fudge's assistance.
