“Just wanted to send a review of your Lone Survivor episode. As you know I currently am serving in the US Army as a Sergeant First Class and have so for the past 19 years. First, I would like to thank you guys for paying the proper respect to our fallen comrades with your Memorial Day review of Lone Survivor. Wish I was there to share experiences on the cast as I was in country when Operation Red Wings happened. I still remember that day at Bagram, as it was, at that point early in Operation Enduring Freedom, the most American lives lost in the war during a single mission. The end of the episode gave me goosebumps with the playing of “Heros” and the saying of the names. Thank you for paying respect.
On a more important note, I’d like to point out, like we all do, when Tucker is wrong, since he talked most of the episode. First, any branch of the Military can attend SEAL training, not just Marines or Navy. Second, Tucks lack of weapon knowledge is laughable lol. The carbines Murphs team used were all semi-automatic M4A2 Carbines and M16A2 rifles. Deitz carried a M16A2 with attached M203 Grenade launcher, not what he called a Squad Automatic Weapon (M249 SAW). All the weapons fired 5.56mm magazine fed ammo. If he was carrying a SAW, it would have fired belt fed 5.56mm ball ammunition (I carried one in Afghan in 2003). Other than that, Tucker was knowledgeable about many factors of the mission. Love ya bro, but just had to correct ya and now I have a craving for a baked potato. 🤣
Keep up the good episodes fellas and I will continue to listen while serving in Germany.
Your sarcastic friend and loyal friend,
Nick”
