Listens like a real whodunnit. Cannot recommend it more. As someone who tends to see the last 15 years of South Africa’s economic and societal woes as some alloy of historical pain and present incompetence, this podcast has confirmed the existence of a third factor: sophisticated, calculating, bloodthirsty megalomania among a couple of Machiavellian mafia dons. The testimony by good-hearted, smart, eloquent, principled South Africans throughout, and the fact that a podcast like this is allowed to exist, speaking truth to power, does form a silver lining around this otherwise rather somber story. We might have some fight in us yet!
