Highlights are the female co-hosts and guests
I listen to this podcast regularly because they land some valuable guests and have occasional beneficial insights. However, I have some serious gripes: 1) Skye tends to waste the interview time with long-winded questions and interjections crafted to get the guests to say what he wants to hear in a sort of moral therapy session where his personal thoughts and fears are validated—rather than offering the guests a chance to demonstrate why they were invited to the show. 2) The host chat often becomes nearly insufferable between Phil and Skye until the third host gets a turn to speak. Phil frequently talks over everyone else just to get his smart-alec jokes in, and Skye’s input usually turns into complaints about how people should just think more like he does. Kaitlyn S. is the bright spot here. She obviously spends time offline with real people in her church and usually gives society the benefit of the doubt that they’re doing the best they can. She and Esau offer balanced theological perspective. If Skye would spend time learning about the art of interviewing people, and if Phil would learn to better moderate the group than air his grievances about the people he clashes with online, this could be a much better voice in Christian media. As it is, it tends to tear down as much as it builds up.

More reviews of The Holy Post
My favorite podcast that discusses the intersection of christianity and culture. A good balance of news, theology, commentary and ukelele — all from a perspective rich with grace and humor. I look forward to this every week.

A long time fan of Phil’s blog and other work (yep, especially Veggie Tales), I can’t get enough of this podcast. Witty and laugh-out-loud conversations mixed with sound theology. Serious conversations without being stuffy. Honest, transparent. Love Phil and his guests!
