Absolutely Wonderful
Shayda Omidvar and Portia Larlee have created an amazing podcast. I’m only three episodes in and already wishing there were more episodes. Everything about it is keeping me interested and engaged. Shayda’s father, Amir, is very courageous in sharing his story and his initial nervousness when first speaking with Shayda is incredibly endearing. He is so articulate and sensitive; I can feel his emotions as he speaks. And the bond that he has with his family is so obvious through the interviews with his sisters. As someone who was born in Canada and never having faced the heartbreak of wanting to leave my country, I keep putting myself in Amir’s shoes and know I would not have had the fortitude he had, to have continued on. Based on this story, I think it is fair to say he is a remarkable person. I am trying to take it slow through the remaining episodes because I already know I’m going to be sad when the podcast is over. I completely understand why it was chosen as the Story Of The Year. Congratulations to everyone who brought this story to the public. Thank you so much. Wendy Phillips

So many of us are born from hopeful grandparents or parents, who risked what they knew in search of better. Can’t...Read full review »
