They say comedy is tragedy plus time
And thanks to this podcast I finally find myself laughing at my past in a cult instead of feeling overwhelmed by anger and shame. When cracks started appearing in the paradigm I’d been raised and steeped in since birth I felt as though someone had kicked a chair out from under me. The more I scrabbled in the dirt of the history my church, digging for the truth, the angrier and more despondent I became. Everything I’d been brainwashed to believe was laughable; the emperor had no clothes. And thanks to the Audio Uncles I feel seen and heard. I feel reassured that there really is a life on the outside and that a better future can be built. Together we listeners can have the cathartic experience of laughing at the emperor’s bottom hanging out for all to see.

More reviews of The How-To Heretic
I don’t write many reviews but this podcast is fantastic. I didn’t even know I had audio uncles! It was Eli’s endorsement that got me to listen and I’m so thankful that I did. The conversations with Paige, I find especially invaluable. Thanks again Uncle Mark and Uncle Dan!

Started slow, but I now really love this show. They not only teach me a lot about how I can come out as an atheist, but in a very funny way. This should be the first thing you listen to if you ever lose your faith.

Even if I’ve always been an atheist I absolutely love that show aimed at people who are just coming out of religion! It’s a high quality podcast, the subjects are always interesting and the hosts are absolutely brilliant!!! I can’t wait for the next episode!!! :)
