Description
This year’s inaugural HYPEFEST was filled with an assortment of exclusive launches, live performances and gripping discussions. The latter of which included a HYPETALKS session that focused on the streetwear industry’s love/hate relationship with reselling. Hosted by jeffstaple, the panel welcomed the likes of StockX’s Josh Luber, Arun Gupta of Grailed, Unique Hype’s OG Ma and Leo Rodriguez representing adidas. Topics like accessibility and acceptance led the dialogue as the group examines how the secondary market for sneakers transitioned from something corporate figures wouldn’t even acknowledge, to a billion-dollar industry that everyone wants a piece of. The collective also talked about the art of supply and demand — using Supreme a case study – and how it can effect resell shops. Lastly, the panelists closed out the exchange with some questions from the audience.
