Generic, uninsightful talk show banter
Here's my take on this show: the panelists repeat the same thoughts and uninspired "jokes" to each other at length, Siracusa cuts in with something intelligent, and an awkward silence follows because nobody else is operating at the same level. Might be a good way to pass the time if you had nothing else, but there are so many better options. The sound quality is also lacking — though perhaps inevitable for a show with so many participants and without the meticulous care of a Dan Benjamin-hosted affair. Note that I only listened to one episode (Episode 48 about Game of Thrones) but needless to say I am not compelled to listen to any more.

If you're a science fiction or fantasy fan you should be listening to this thing. John Siracusa, in particular, is ridiculously smart and entertaining. Why no advertisements? I hope this podcast makes some money.

Being an anime nerd I felt that episode 84 was a bit of a let-down. It was a bit cringeworthy, with some misinformed rambling, but I got the...Read full review »
