Into the Forest I Go
“And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul.” -John Muir. I’m a novice hiker who only has done a few short day hikes. However, I’d love to be out on the trails more often. Since work and life don’t allow for as many outdoor hikes as I’d like, I’m happy I found this podcast. Into the forest I go, hiking alongside JFM and his pals for about an hour each week. JFM, also known as Doc, shares stories of his trail adventures which are inspiring at times and hilarious at others. Each week he features guest hikers and his own hiking buddies—all who have been given trail names. The stories behind these names are told in the first few episodes (Poor Skids!). Love that Doc includes pro tips on everything from hiker essentials to trails and prime spots to camp out. This podcast feels like sitting around the campfire for a chat and reflecting on the day’s hike. Each week I look forward to the latest adventures. In fact, it’s the next best thing to being out on the trails myself. Thanks, John Freakin’ Muir. Love the new intro, by the way!

This is a great podcast. I just started listening a couple of days ago and have burned thru 5 episodes already. Great for anyone who spends a good amount of time driving and likes the outdoors.

Meh
I’d love to learn about the guests but the host is a bad interviewer. The “segments” and “bits” are not useful or entertaining. It’s like he’s pretending to be what he thinks a radio host is instead of just talking to his guests and being curious about their lives.
