Electric cars are killing jobs right across the Globe. The rush to go all electric is insane, it will kill jobs but also kill communities. Luton is stopping making electric cars and 1200 jobs are at risk. I broadcast a radio show on BBC local radio back in 2000 when Vauxhall tried to close down the whole factory and it is an event that helped make my career. The old cliche that bad news sells was pretty accurate in my case. The closure and my broadcast helped to unite the community and I tell you the tale of how we pulled it of in this podcast. I am immensely proud of this work which went on to win three Sony Awards (Radio Oscars) as it was a real team effort but not just the team at the radio station but the whole community of Luton.
