Description
Singer, Songwriter, Musician and Frontman of the Chicago-based, 5-piece Indie Rock Band The Darling Suns – Robert Krause calls in to the Junk and Jam Hour to discuss his musical journey - from picking up his very first guitar, to his years-long battle with depression, anxiety and substances abuse - to finding his way back to music again.
Initially banded for the sole purpose of backing up Krause for live shows, The Darling Suns soon became a band in and of themselves - with all the members collaborating harmoniously.
Their incredible music from their latest EP Better Off is also played, including the beautifully blue "Better Off", and the distinct strums and reverberating joy of "After Glow" - which was a perfect segue jingle to take us out of the blaring Radio Free Brooklyn fire alarm, because coincidentally, that's exactly how the song was was produced: during a fire alarm!
After the heartbreaking "Void", drummer Charlie Dresser joins in on the conversation, further lamenting the bands goal of hoping listeners, "...can connect [to their music], and leave with a little more hope than they had when they came in," and we close out with the voluminously exciting, "Year of the Rat."
