Musicians, Singer-Songwriters and Producers of the Nu Disco Collective - Bad Business Club
Description
The Musicians, Singers, Songwriters and Producers of the Nu Disco Collective and Band Bad Business Club call in to The Junk and Jam Hour to talk all about each of their respective trajectories in music; their shared love for the exciting sounds of funk, jazz, disco - and the Yacht Rock genre - that influenced and inspired their own smooth music; the importance of amplifying one another's strengths; and the gratification they receive from being able to transport their listeners to another place with their specific brand, and modern take of good-time music!
They excitedly discuss their upcoming - and very first - full length Nu-Disco record, "Naked Neighbor", a collection of music that postures on the theme of letting go of life's bullsh*t, with less 'emotionally-dense' material, and jam out to their first single, 'Flip Me Over', a summer bop that absolves anyone of having any regrets over their one-night fling, and instead, have pride in their adult experiences. This leads to a wonderful discussion of empowering others to be self-assured, and normalizing a woman's own sex-positivity.
We also play their highly celebrated cover of the Doobie Brothers classic, 'What a Fool Believes' , a song that has been recognized as one of the Best New Nu-Disco tracks by BeatPort, which opens up the discussion of how the Yacht Rock genre has traditionally not always been known for its diversity and representation in its image - and how they are themselves not just more diverse, but accredit their reverence for jazz and rhythm and blues.
They also talk about their incredibly fun 'Imbibe the Vibe' Podcast – where they combine classic cocktails, and match it with a lively discussion around a curated playlist.
