But also, CRT
I appreciate the histories told and the lovely storytelling methods of these “truths,” but also want to point out a critical thread of “truth” that has been left out — sure, podcasts and true crime do often begin with a dead woman, but largely the attention and care of this whole genre revolves around young white women, with little regard to black indigenous and brown women (and when some so, certainly not with the same care and awe— to get attention they end up as hashtags, rather than on Netflix specials). The amendment mentioned at the end did allow women to vote — but not all women, just white women. At this critical juncture, race and racism should be at the forefront of each history, including white ones. Again, I appreciate the thought and care that has gone into creating this podcast, and I look forward to more, but historians need to integrate critical race theory in their practice. Thanks!

I just wish I had come into this later when there would be more to binge. I have thoroughly enjoyed every episode. I’m a big fan of Prairie Home Companion and Live From Here, so I’m partial to the cheesy old radio show acting and sound effects.

I recently got into Jill Lepore’s works when I read these truths, it was very interesting. I do have to say that my favorite book of hers is blindspot. Give her books a read, I always seem to learn something from them, and give this podcast a listen!
