The Last Thing I Listened To
This is a great show. Simple set-up and all about the quality of the critics, which feels pretty high quality to me. A good range of movies covered. Quite festival oriented, and skews towards US a little, so I won’t always listen if most of what’s being covered there’s fat chance any of it ever coming out in my little piece of the world. Then again, there’s always the fall back of streamers - aka the enemy. Anyway, I wonder if the festival circuit is a phenomenon I don’t quite understand and certainly festivals seem to function as a space for left field content to get a viewing and some critical attentions; which is where The Last Thing I Saw Comes in. Especially like episodes featuring Amy Taubin. She’s great. You can’t fast track that kind of depth of view. And it doesn’t just come with a masters degree. Thanks for this show. We’re listening and loving it.

This show has surpassed other podcasts of its kind in terms of quality of guests and commentary. Amy Taubin is a gift each time she is featured. When five of the podcasts I listen to drop new episodes on the same day I always click this one first.

I’ve listened to several film discussion podcasts over the last few years. I think Nicolas Rapold is absolutely the best host with the best panels/discussions. I followed him from the Film Comment podcast to this one. The discussions are always informative, warm, flowing, and full of good humor.
