A wonderful testament to power of community
Such a beautiful inspiring and at times heart-breaking insight into the power of a marginalised community coming together to meet its own needs. The levels of creativity, commitment and everyday heroism that people showed up with to generate essential services that saved lives and also just validated and respected people is a really important lesson for anyone today. I was really unprepared for how deeply moved I’ve been listening to this. I would like to give every queer person who lived through the 80s a hug and would like to buy a pint (or pint equivalent) to every single person whoever volunteered for Switchboatd
